Over half of all couples have a hashtag for their wedding. Not only are they a great engagement tool for your friends and family, hashtags are a fun, creative way to share your special day! Facebook and Instagram make your hashtag searchable by collecting all photos and posts under the phrase. That way you and your guests can post and relive your big day for years to come!
How to Create a Hashtag for Your Wedding
Hashtags can be anything from fun and cutesy, to creative, to simple! It’s your day and your choice! You can do no wrong here! Your hashtag can be a cute play on your name, such as or #jonesingforawedding (after our owners, Katie and Greg Jones!). Some couples have used movie titles and songs to play off of as well. A simpler way to hashtag your wedding is to use the brides and/or grooms names, #Joneswedding, or a more straightforward approach with, #KatieandGregJonesWedding. The possibilities are endless!
If you have are having difficulty deciding what hashtag to use for your wedding, there are countless generators online! Sites such as The Wedding Wire, Shutterfly, and The Knot offer great options and suggestions for hashtags. If you’re really in a bind, you can always ask your friends and family! Asking for help through a Facebook post is a great way to hear fun and creative ideas!
Hashtag All Your Events
Hashtags are also a great way to engage and track the other events leading up to your wedding. A great bachelorette/bachelor hashtag will capture your party’s attention and create excitement for the event. If you’re throwing a themed bachelorette/bachelor party, your hashtag can mirror your theme. For example, a kick boxing bachelor party can have the hashtag, #loveatfirstpunch. Or perhaps the bride is a fan of Star Wars, #hahnsolonomore. Hashtags are endless fun and can create the vibe of your upcoming party.
The only rules for hashtags that we want to stress: write it out on paper first! You don’t want to create your hashtag just to realize it spells a swear word or naughty phrase (unless that’s what you’re going for of course!).
